Brighton Digital Festival has not yet received public funding, however, we see the festival programme as offering a public service to the city and beyond. Therefore, we see all event organisers as being accountable to everyone, and we should work continuously to provide both digital and physical spaces where people feel safe.
We want BDF to genuinely reflect the city and bring as many different voices and experiences to the programme.
We are working on this in the midst of a pandemic, so we ask “How can we execute big ideas if we haven’t been given the chance to try small ones?” This question is not coming from a place of perfection - more a place of working through innovation, creativity, collective imagining and adaptation through lived experiences. We see this as an opportunity to make a permanent change to the way the city programmes, and creates opportunities for people to be involved.
BDF has a long history of supporting our local arts, tech and creative community, this year we are also welcoming people outside of Brighton to join the programme and host events in our city. If you would like to include your event or an experience on the BDF, we ask you to consider the following things, and upload your event by the 13th of September
